The Land where I grew up
Hi everyone, my name is Andrea and I'd love to tell you a bit about the land where I grew up.
From Puglia, ItalyMeet the pizzaiolo
I come from a humble Italian family of pizza makers and I adore Pizza! My grandpa was a “pizzaiolo” for over 50 years in Puglia, Italy and my father, after him, has been making pizzas for some 30 years. I feel it is now my turn to, not only carry on this family tradition, but also let others around the world appreciate our family’s recipe of light, irresistible, delicious pizza, just the way grandpa made it. Ulivo is born... Living surrounded by ancient olive groves from which we’d make the tastiest extra virgin olive oil, my family and I would often end a hard working day with a wood fired pizza to enjoy with friends under our olive trees. Ulivo is born with that same idea, to give to others a true authentic taste of southern Italy, the land where I grew up. |
Life PartnersPartners besides business
My wife and I met in 2014 and have both always shared a passion for food. Megan, a baker since an early age, has always had a savoury tooth while being incredibly good at making cakes and cookies! While I’ve been on a constant research for perfection in any dish I endeavour to cook. Experimenting together with new exotic cuisines, while perfecting our traditional ones, was like a hobby yet felt like a responsibility. Making bread, pasta, pizza we always find new things to cook and enjoy. Yes we are foodies! Living together in London, UK for a few years gave us the chance to explore a variety of restaurants and cuisines that opened our eyes to new food combinations. We then embarked on a journey to find the oldest and most authentic pizzerias in Italy. L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele, the oldest pizza place in Naples est. in 1889 and listed in the Michelin Guide for years, was surely an inspiration. That motivated us to perfect our pizza dough and open Ulivo Pizzeria. |
